One of the
reasons to visit Agios Georgios Pagon is its
magnificent beach which has been awarded the
blue flag of the European Union. Its waters,
shallow at some points, while deeper at others,
satisfy every demand.
Water sports and diving facilities are available
to those who seek adventure.
You can also rent a motor boat to visit nearby
seaside areas like Paleokastritsa-Sidari.
In the area there are shops that sell souvenirs,
picturesque taverns as well as fish taverns
selling fresh fish, (a famous one is the
“Fisherman”), super markets, hotels and in
general what you expect to find at a
touristically developed area.
Nearby places to visit: Even though you find
yourself at one of the most beautiful beaches in
Corfu, you can explore a different beach every
ten minutes.
To the right you can find the picturesque Arilas
beach, then Agios Stefanos, a beach with very
fine sand, and then the steep beach of Logas
(for the more risky) from where you can enjoy a
beautiful sunset. You can continue on to Sidari
where there is the famous Canal d’Amour,
Astrakeri, Arachavi, Roda, Kassiopi, etc. The
beaches of Corfu are endless and offer the
visitor countless options to choose from.
Turning to the left you can enjoy the drive to
Paleokastritsa. While driving up the mountain
(we call it Swallow), you can enjoy the
spectacular view of the whole northern Corfu and
other small islands. You can also see our beach
in the centre. On the other side of the mountain
when you arrive at Bella Vista (Lovely View) you
will be enchanted by the view of Paleokastritsa.
You can also visit Aggelokastro (it is said that
it was built by Michelangelo), a castle that
offers a unique panoramic view of almost the
whole island.
Another impressive sight is the tall olive
groves of the island which were planted by the
Venetians around 1204. The combination of the
dense vegetation and the intricate coastline
make Corfu so unique that the visitor feels the
urge to visit the island more than once.
When you visit the town centre do not forget to
explore the old town where the Venetian element
is apparent everywhere, Liston, the old and new
fort, Spianada (the biggest square in Europe),
Achillio, Pontikonisi, (Mouse Island) & Mon Repo.
And don’t forget to taste Koum Kouat, the famous
local liqueur which you can find practically
everywhere.
Distances From the port 28 km.
From the airport 30 km.
From the beach 300 m.
From the bus stop 50 m.
From the super market 50 m. |
